Description
The Health Care Management Association of Central NY (HCMACNY) – a Chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives – will be offering an upcoming educational program on Compliance and Ethics Requirements for Skilled Nursing Facilities and Nursing Facilities. The program will consist of two one hour sessions, from 4:30 PM to 5:30, on Monday, September 27 and Monday, October 4.
The goal of the program will be to inform SNFs and NHs of the federal compliance program requirements that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services require in order for SNFs and NHs to participate in the Medicare program. A side-by-side comparison of the statutory requirements in the United States Code and the Federal regulations will be used to conduct a gap analysis of current SNF and NH compliance with these requirements. The program will highlight the variances between the statute’s compliance program skeleton and the more detailed requirements in the regulations.
The presenter will be Matthew D. Babcock, JD, FACHE. Matt has lectured extensively on compliance program requirements for healthcare providers and program integrity matters. He previously served as the Assistant Medicaid Inspector General overseeing the Bureau of Compliance at the NYS Office of the Medicaid Inspector General from its creation in 2010 until 2019. As the Assistant Medicaid Inspector General, Matt developed OMIG’s compliance program assessment forms, guidance documents, and provided some 70 compliance related presentations across New York State. In addition, Matt has served in a number of management and legal roles for hospitals, nursing homes, and health insurers, and has also served as an adjunct professor of law teaching courses in Healthcare Finance Law and Managed Care Law.
